Heather - Weight loss Transformation
What did you struggle with before CrossFit?
“Before CrossFit, I struggled maintaining any weight loss from years of “yo-yo dieting”. I could lose weight, but I never could maintain it and keep it off.”
How did CrossFit change that for you?
“CrossFit helped me stay consistent in my workouts and learn more about the nutrition I needed to fuel my body properly.”
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
“My biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit is that, paired with healthy Intermittent Fasting, I was able to lose over 100 pounds. My biggest CrossFit accomplishment is a rope climb. I also consider it an accomplishment that, despite having been diagnosed with MS, I am still able to do CrossFit.”
Daniela - Strength Transformation
What did you struggle with before CrossFit?
“Form in general. I tore my disc doing things without body awareness before CF.”
How did CrossFit change that for you?
“CF helped me understand that mechanics/form before weight get you prepared and strong for everything else we do at the gym, and I see that people really understand that too.”
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
“Semifinals at age 38 just before my 5th CF anniversary—and not having an athletic background.”
Josh - Lifestyle Transformation
Where I Started:
“For years I steadily gained weight. I got to the point where I no longer weighed myself because I just didn't want to know. I knew that if we didn't start changing, we never would.
I looked at getting a gym membership, but I knew I would never go. I've tried before and just didn't know what I was doing. We needed someone to coach us through and keep us accountable.”
What Changed:
“When I showed up to CrossFit Van Zandt, the coach took the time to talk to me and walk me through what joining CrossFit entailed. The first class, I had no idea what I was doing, but I did it.
Looking around, I saw so many people in so much better shape than us. But not a single person belittled us or made fun of us. Everyone encouraged us to keep going, and the coaches helped us scale all the work to something that challenged us but was manageable.
In the first four months, I dropped 40 pounds down to 245 and still couldn't run more than 200 meters.”
What I Never Thought I'd Do:
“If you told me two years ago that I would be running a 15-mile trail run through the Arkansas mountains, I would've called you crazy.
When my 7-mile lap came up around 9 p.m. in total darkness, I put on my headlamp and just started running. There was just 5 feet of light in front of me and no idea what was past it, so I kept running.
CrossFit and our family at CrossFit Van Zandt has changed our lives and given us a happy and healthy future to look forward to.
For anyone thinking about joining, there is never a time when you'll ‘be ready.’ You don't have to be fit to join CrossFit. You just have to take that first step into the gym. We all start somewhere.”
